Awards back and better than ever

MIA Leong knows first hand what it feels like to secure a Capricorn Business award.

The managing pharmacist at Richardson Road Discount Drug Store received the business of the year award in addition to retailer of the year in 2014 before the awards were stopped.

This year however the Capricorn Business Awards are back and better than ever with the event supported equally by five different organisations, for the first time.

The five supporting organisations are the Rockhampton Regional Council, Livingston Shire Council, Capricorn Enterprise, the Chamber of Commerce and The Morning Bulletin.

All five will all be celebrating and honouring businesses which excel across a number of business categories.

Ms Leong said the awards were definitely worth participating in.

"We were truly honoured to have received the business of the year award in addition to retailer of the year and it's a reflection of the immense effort and dedication of our team,” she said.

"I was truly honoured and indeed surprised to have been awarded business person of the year. It inspired me and since then I challenged myself with creating a community healthcare destination of choice in Rockhampton.

"I have employed more staff to further enhance service levels and we have a laser-like focus on achieving success for the business through a multi-faceted approach of continual improvement and uncompromising service.”

This year the Capricornia Business Awards will have 12 categories with nominations closing in mid-September.

Instead of people voting for businesses they think are successful within the region, businesses are being asked to nominate themselves for the awards and can do so at: www.capricorniabusiness awards.com.au which will be up and running very shortly.

The Capricorn Business Awards will be held on November 11 at the Rockhampton Leagues Club.
