HOCKEY: A double from Maddy Randazzo secured a premiership three-peat for the Southern Suburbs A-grade women.
Coach Sharon Connor was full of praise for her players who worked tirelessly for the full 70 minutes to get the result against a determined Wanderers outfit.
"It was an awesome victory and capped off a good season for us,” she said.
"The girls stuck to the game plan and just kept going and going.
"Every one of them really stepped up and we played well across the park.
"I think it came down to them believing in themselves and knowing that out there they had the skills and the game play to do the job.”
Souths were off to a great start when Randazzo scored the first of her goals at the five-minute mark.
Both teams held firm in defence, with possession evenly shared for the best part of the game before Randazzo slotted her second six minutes from full-time.
Connor said Andrea Farrow, Jacinta Johns, Kylie Scott and goalkeeper Elne Bezuidenhout were good for Souths.
It was a busy year for Connor, who coached all three of Souths senior women's teams, two of which made grand finals.
The A3 team came agonisingly close to victory, beaten 2-1 by Park Avenue Brothers who scored the winning goal in the last 40 seconds of the game.
