B-grader Lindsay takes Open title

SOMETIMES there can be surprises in golf, and at Rockhampton Golf Course yesterday it was the turn of Judy Lindsay to provide one.

Playing in the prestigious Rockhampton Capricorn Investment Partners Rockhampton Ladies Open, Lindsay showed the field that players from the B-grade can still produce an exceptional round of golf.

With a round of 82 off the stick and a net score of 61, Lindsay finished ahead of the pack to win the championship on her home course.

The Rockhampton club’s ladies captain Val Kelly said a field of 95 golfers took part in almost perfect conditions and this resulted in good scores.

Runner-up in the event was Yeppoon A-grade player Peggy Bella-Daniels with a gross score of 83.

Top score in C-grade went another Rockhampton player Lyndee Bollington, who fired 101 off the stick.
