Bachelor star Nikki moves on: 'Never settle for less'

Fan favourite and Bachelor runner-up Nikki Gogan has finally healed her broken heart after being painfully rejected by Richie Strahan on last year's series of the show.

Opening up on a Contiki blog following a recent trip to India, the 28-year-old Western Australia based real estate agent says that moving forward she'll never "settle for something less," again, after Strahan gave fellow contestant Alex Nation the final rose.

"If someone doesn't love you the way that you want them to, it doesn't mean you or they are bad people, simply, it wasn't meant to be at this time and that's ok," she wrote in the candid post.

"My advice for relationships is to never settle for something less than you deserve. Taking some time to discover who you are and taking time to be alone is ok. It's healthy to spend time alone and not be defined by another person."

The reality TV star, who's been rumoured to front this year's season of The Bachelorette told fans that travelling has helped heal her broken heart, and that she now values the simple things in life.

"The secret to my happiness is appreciating and being thankful for the little things. Enjoying a coffee on the beach with my sister, getting a cuddle from my Mum or belly laughing with a friend, drawing happiness from walking my dog along the river and seeing those I love smile. True happiness isn't material; true happiness is people and experiences."
