Witnesses chase armed bandit

UPDATE 9am: An armed bandit dropped a cash register till draw as he was pursued by witnesses to the knife-point robbery of a North Rockhampton service station late last night. 

Just before 10pm, a man entered the Yaamba Road outlet armed with a knife.

He threatened staff members before taking the till draw from the cash register and leaving the store.

Witnesses followed the man before he made threats towards them.

He then dropped the till draw and fled the scene on foot.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 175cm tall with a slim build.

He was wearing a black and white hooded jacket, three-quarter cargo pants, brown leather work boots, a black balaclava and white socks on his hands.

No one was physically injured during the robbery and police investigations are continuing.

CCTV footage of the robbery may be released soon.
