Banned from nightclub after assaulting police

YELLING at a group of party-goers and asking them to fight landed Brodie Robert Gregson in trouble with police.

On May 16, police were patrolling the CBD area when they saw a group of people outside Zodiac Nightclub.

Rockhampton Magistrates Court was told Gregson was walking away from the group but continued yelling at them.

The court was told police had been arresting another man when Gregson tried to interfere.

Gregson was put against the wall by police, but had pushed himself off the wall.

Police then put him on the ground and he kicked out and hit a police officer.

Gregson faced charges of obstructing police, assaulting police and public nuisance when he faced court on Wednesday.

His defence lawyer said he was not trying to kick the police officer, but had panicked in the situation.

Gregson was fined $1400 and banned from Zodiac Nightclub for one year.
