Bareback rider strips away rumours

CLINTON Frankish might be a rookie bareback bronc rider, but that doesn't mean he bares his back.

Frankish, 23, who finished up work as a boilermaker last week, is confident there's plenty of work out there for boilermakers, and has quashed the rumours circulating around the stockyards that the bareback bronc rider is a part-time stripper.

“No. There's no truth in that. That's rubbish,” Frankish stressed with a wry smile.

In his first season as a rookie bronc rider, Frankish couldn't ask for a better start to the Paul Archer The Good Guys Young Guns Rodeo series.

On the back of two second places from three starts, Frankish is clipping at the heels of series leader Jamie Morgan, and is loving every minute of it.

“The first time you ride is a bit nerve racking, but after that it's not too bad,” he said.

“It's a ball of fun ... (I love) the adrenalin.”

Stock contractor Brian Duggan, who is behind the “part-time stripper” rumours, said Frankish had made a good impression in the opening rounds of the Young Guns Rodeo series.

“He's going quite good. He's only just started, but he's been working with a few of the experienced riders and he's starting to go alright now,” Duggan said.

Frankish also finished in third place in the Open bronc ride at the Mt Morgan Rodeo a fortnight ago, his third successful competition ride in a row.

In the Open Bull Ride, Trent Maguire is going for his fourth straight win in the Rookie Open Bull Ride.

Morgan is arguably the form bull rider in the region winning both the open bull ride and the rookie bull ride at the recent Beef City Bull Ride.

“He won both here a fortnight ago, so he's in white hot form,” Duggan said.

Action begins at 7pm tomorrow night at the Great Western Hotel's Nissan Navara Arena with gates open at 6pm.
