Rain doesn't stop bargain hunters
CALLIOPE couple John and Betty Wisnesky weren’t bothered by the rain yesterday, but more interested in finding a bargain.
They went to the Rockhampton Home Show and Caravan and Camping Expo on its first day of three. They have attended the past few years.
“We like to come here on the first day it’s on because it’s not so busy and you can find some great bargains,” Betty said.
And find a bargain they did, with one of the exhibitors demonstrating the thermal cooker EcoPot which caught Betty and John’s eyes.
“We just wanted to try one out,” John said.
Many others like Betty and John braved the rainy weather yesterday to find their home renovation ideas during a few scattered showers or two, and with the forecast showing more rain due over the weekend, it looks like many others will have to as well.
Items like the Bellini Multi-Chopper made popular by shows like MasterChef have been selling like hot cakes, demonstrator Brett Martin said.
“We’ve recently sold 1000 of them to Junior MasterChef and 30,000 to fish and chip restaurants over the last few years so they just fly out,” he said.
The expo is on todayfrom 9am to 5pm until tomorrow, gates opening at 9am to 4pm.
Cost of entry is $8 for adults, $6 with a Seniors Card and children with an adult can get in free.
