Bashed grandma clings to life

THE elderly Rockhampton woman severely bashed by an attacker in her yard on Australia Day is clinging to life this afternoon.

She remains in a critical condition on life support in the intensive care ward at the Royal Brisbane Hospital, with members of her distraught family maintaining a vigil at her side.

Late last week the woman’s grand-daughter said she feared the family faced making a heart-breaking decision, with the advice of medical experts, on whether to switch-off the machines that were helping the 82-year-old to survive.
