Bass aims for finely tuned Rovers to fire in tomorrow's game
JARROD Bass is depending on a successful weekend on the turf to get the ball rolling for Frenchville Rovers.
Frenchville goes head-to-head with Gladstone Sparks in the Central Queensland League A1 Men's hockey contest at 5.15pm tomorrow at Kalka Shades.
In further senior men's action, Wanderers take on Rockhampton Souths at 8.05pm and Meteors meet Park Avenue Brothers at 4.40pm.
Frenchville fullback Bass said after a rough start to the season, his team had found its feet.
"We're starting to get our combinations together and have a strong defence," he said.
"We really need to string a few wins together.
"Adam Bun in the forward line is playing well and if he plays well this week, the whole side will do well."
Bass said the Rovers couldn't predict what the Sparks would bring to the field.
"Sparks are a bit of a mixed bag ... some weeks they come out really strong and others they don't - you never know what to expect," he said.
The fullback said an inconsistent line-up had hampered Frenchville's success this season.
"We're going pretty steady and building up, but are struggling to get consistent players each week," Bass said.
"We're starting to get numbers back but it's been a bit up and down with some players working shiftwork."
