LETTER: Be more vigilant with locking up

ARE the people who leave their homes unlocked insane?

I lock my doors even when I'm home so why would I leave it unlocked when I go out?

I don't think the insurance companies would look very favourably at claims due to robbery if a house was unlocked, ditto for cars, better be safe than sorry.

If strangers appear at my door, I talk to them through a locked screen door until they identify themselves.

It doesn't matter where you live, bad people are everywhere so be vigilant.
