BEACHED AS: Third strike of misfortune
DALE Bates is fast running out of luck.
The keen Central Queensland angler has had this third incident involving his pride and joy, a 10m Hydrofield Jaguar powerboat.
Three weeks ago his luxury liner was towed from Barren Island after a gearbox failure. Again on Sunday morning Gormans Removals Rescue were flagged down at the harbour entrance for further gearbox problems.
Then as the boat was being towed in, it was loaded onto it's trailer and set off from the harbour area. Then the winch broke causing the boat to slide onto the bitumen road and be lifted back onto the trailer by crane.
The Morning Bulletin understands the initial gearbox repairs cost $10,000.
Shop owners nearby saw the incident unfold and said while it didn't delay traffic in and out of the Marina too much it did take a while for the crane to arrive.
It is unknown exactly how much damage was sustained.
