Nationals candidate promises upgrade for park
NEGLECTED Waterlily Park at Ocean Shores could be up for a $250,000 make-over.
Nationals candidate for Ballina Kris Beavis said the park would be transformed if he was elected.
The planning would be done with Byron Shire Council and would include new play equipment, pathways, shade and eating areas.
The lake - which has had significant safety concerns for residents - would also be cleaned up.
Mr Beavis secured the money for the park's rev
italisation after the issue was raised with him at an Ocean Shores Community Association meeting.
"People from all walks of life have advocated for this park to attract some attention after it has run into disrepair over many years," he said.
"The northern suburbs of Byron Shire feel neglected as their parks and roads crumble. Starting with Waterlily Park, I will make sure these suburbs get the services they deserve from all levels of government."
