Aldridge's Shane Kelly scores state's best English mark

ALDRIDGE State High School Year 7 student Shane Kelly has proof he is among the brightest and best performing students in Queensland.

After receiving the highest mark in the University of New South Wales English Test, Shane said he had done "a bit better than expected".

"I was aiming for a high distinction which is the best mark before you get the top mark," Shane said.

"So when I got the highest mark in Queensland, it was pretty awesome."

School principal Ross Higgins said winning an educational assessment Australia medal was an exceptional accomplishment.

"It demonstrates Shane's achievements are of the very highest standard," Mr Higgins said.

"We are very proud of him."

In his spare time, Shane enjoys reading.

"Sci-fi, I love sci-fi," he said.

He is also a keen science student and hopes to become a fighter pilot when he finishes school.
