Beverley set to farewell dream home

WITH its white picket fence, in-ground pool, stables and horse paddock, this Gracemere property at 57 Huff St is a family dream home.

The 1.05ha property is being auctioned today.

It is currently owned by Beverley McArthur who won the award for the Best Rural Garden in this year's Bettascapes Garden Competition.

The former gardening writer and president of Mackay Horticultural Society said the garden was fully established, hardy, low maintenance and could stand up to the hot conditions.

"There's nothing that needs to be done here," she said.

For dad, the Huff St home has a caravan shed, a boat shed and a double roller door shed to the rear.

For mum, there's the garden, and an immaculate four-bedroom home with his and hers walk-in wardrobes and two outdoor living areas.

And any child would be ecstatic to find stables, a horse paddock, four dog kennels and an in-ground pool…not to mention room to run.

The fully screened and air-conditioned home was constructed by GJ Gardner Homes and has been lovingly cared for by Mrs McArthur.

"I've loved living here," she said.

"Gracemere has such a relaxing atmosphere, but since my husband passed on, it's just too big for me."

Mrs McArthur is looking forward to returning home to Mackay. She wants the home sold today.

The median house price for Gracemere is currently $320,000, a 2.4% fall since 2012.

RP Data shows the current trend is three buyers looking for every one home for sale.
