Big-name headliner boosts local acts at Coast festival

ONE of Australia's biggest names in music will hit the Sunshine Coast this Saturday for the Sea N Sound Festival at Mooloolaba.

Boy & Bear will headline the event at the Mooloolaba Wharf, outside the Wharf Tavern, with other acts including Busby Marou, The Potbelleez, Timberwolf and Tijuana Cartel.

Last year the first Sea N Sound festival attracted more than 2000 people to the precinct, with artists featured on four stages throughout the day.

The festival is set to boost the profile of local acts including Doolie, Selahphonic, Sametime and Chris Flakas.

Former music executive and TV personality Ian "Dicko" Dickson came on board as the festival's ambassador, partly to support Caloundra brother duo Sametime, who he manages in partnership with the boys' father.

"I'm thrilled to have one of my artists on the bill for this year`s Sea N Sounds," he said.

"It's the sort of classy event that will help to establish the Sunny Coast as an iconic live music destination."

Gates open at noon for festival-goers, with acts playing until 3am Sunday.

Tickets are available at the gate, or visit www.seansound.com.au.
