Biggest Loser lovebirds separated

ANOTHER budding romance has been put on hold on The Biggest Loser.

Father-of-three Simon Hurley's elimination tonight was hard on his new love interest Lisa Ritherdon.

In the first weigh in as individual competitors, the couple both ended up below the yellow line and Hurley fell on his proverbial sword for Ritherdon.

"She was going through some issues at the time. It was my opinion and I still firmly believe the best place for her to deal with those issues was there," Hurley said.

The 40-year-old from South Australia ended up in the elimination room after losing just 1.7kg last week.

But Hurley's overall 37.1kg weight loss during his time on the show was a jaw-dropping result for his family.

"I was very excited to see the family when I got home and the looks on their faces when I walked through the door was priceless," he said.

"Oscar, my 14-year-old son, even to this day is saying 'You don't look like yourself, how did they make you look taller?'.

"Teenage kids are not always the easiest to get words out of and my 17-year-old Levi has even said he's proud of me. To get that from a 17-year-old is pretty awesome."

Hurley said he and Ritherdon plan to give their relationship a go "one step at a time" on the outside.

"Once Lisa's out and the show finishes we can plan to travel interstate to see each other," he said.

"I've got a few dates set aside to go up to Sydney and meet her family.

"We've got to make sure we can still tolerate each other on the outside (laughs). We're taking it step by step."

Hurley, who lived in Brisbane for 12 years and says his blood is still very maroon, hopes to weigh less than 100kg by the show's finale.

The Biggest Loser airs Mondays to Fridays at 7pm on Ten.
