Bigtime back in style for birthday

ROCKHAMPTON'S CQ Party Hire is approaching its 26th birthday, but owners Jason and Pardis Hudson still know how to party.

Throwing a big bash is back in style, and the Rockhampton couple are making sure they keep up with the times.

"Turning 18 or 21 is as big a deal as getting married these days," Pardis said yesterday.

"People want more, so we've taken it to the next level."

The couple have had the Chappell St business for the past five years.

They have expanded the company in the past year to include a costume and party needs shop as well as equipment hire.

"We wanted to bring it all together," said Pardis.

The shop has a disguise for any occasion, as well as decorations, novelty gifts and drinking games.

"A lot of people don't like hiring costumes because they can't have as much fun and the internet can be unreliable," said Pardis of their decision to branch into costumes.

Pardis said the business did a lot of networking with other party-related services in the Rockhampton region.

"We all work together," she said.

"You don't need a planner."

Pardis said they were hoping to have an official opening for the shop some time soon.

Her advice for party planners was to budget and give yourself plenty of time.
