Bikini mum shines in age-old debate
FROM grey nomads to teenagers, if you're comfortable wearing a bikini just go for it.
That's the advice Ripcurl Yeppoon manager Courtney Salta is giving to the women of Central Queensland after a 46-year-old Queensland mum hit back at young critics of her bikini body.
Mother-of-two Julie Cross posted a photo on Facebook in her bikini after she walked past a group of young people and heard the comment "I think she is over the bikini!".
The Facebook community threw their support behind Ms Cross, with her positive body image promoting post attracting over 120,000 Facebook likes in less than 24 hours.
Yeppoon swimwear store manager Ms Salta wasn't surprised with the popularity of Ms Cross' post and said there was no age limit on feeling and looking great in a bikini.
"Selling bikinis to older women is very common for us," Ms Salta said.
"We have a quite a lot of older women come in and buy them. I'd say it's about 50/50 with the younger girls.
"The oldest lady I'd sold a bikini to was in her 60s and she bought a two piece. We get a lot of tourists and grey nomads come in and buy bikinis.
"They even come out of the change rooms when they're trying them on and show it off a lot more than the younger girls."
