Bipolar sufferer receives $1500 fine for smoking cannabis

A GRACEMERE man suffering from bipolar disorder smoked cannabis rather than using medication.

That was until police raided his house on

January 4.

Magistrate Cameron Press ordered William Barrett to forfeit 16 seeds, digital scales and a water pipe when he pleaded guilty to four drug-related charges on Friday.

Barrett was also fined $1500.

He told the court that he no longer grew or used cannabis.
