Bligh won't back down

QUEENSLAND Premier Anna Bligh is refusing to concede LNP leader Campbell Newman is in the clear over political donations during his time as Brisbane's mayor.

On Friday afternoon the Crime and Misconduct Commission (CMC) announced it had found no evidence of misconduct by Mr Newman in relation to three matters while he was Brisbane's Lord Mayor.

The watchdog was assessing allegations that a developer made donations to Mr Newman's former mayoral re-election fund before the developer's controversial application was approved.

While Mr Newman has been cleared, the CMC will investigate the circumstances of the donations.

Premier Anna Bligh has welcomed the decision, telling Channel 7 she has nothing to apologise to Mr Newman about.
