Blow out may have caused crash

POLICE believe a blown tyre may have contributed to a crash which killed a 64-year-old truck driver on the Springsure-Tambo road last Wednesday afternoon.

Townsville man Graham Francis Moulden was pronounced dead on arrival at Springsure Hospital after emergency services fought to free him from his wrecked truck.

Mr Moulden had been driving for Emerald Quarries for only three weeks before the incident, joining his daughter and son-in-law in working for the company.

“It would appear there was a front tyre blowout on the driver's side, but further investigations are continuing,” said Springsure officer-in-charge Sergeant Bill Boon.

The truck had veered off the road, crashing into trees at the base of a decline on the Dawson Developmental Road.
