Bluff Cup punters go troppo for big prize money

RACEGOERS are being urged to "go troppo” with their fashion sense at next Saturday's Bluff Cup race meeting at the railway township in the Central Highlands.

To be precise, club officials suggest "tropical dress” attire.

Big prize money is on offer for the meeting in particular the Bluff Cup BM 55 Handicap (1800m) and the QTIS Maiden Plate (950m).

The Bluff Cup is a race offering $10,000 in prize money which goes all the way down to fourth placing which is worth $500.

With QTIS bonus prize money applicable, the Maiden Plate is a race valued at $12,000.

Bluff-Blackwater Amateur Race Club spokesperson Warren McLaughlin said the race day would also have attractions for the children and the adults.

"We will have rides on-course for the kids and there will be music and entertainment after the races for patrons.

"Annually this meeting heralds the on-coming of Christmas and folk out this way use the day to get into the early spirit of the season,” McLaughlin said.

Nominations for the Bluff Cup races close at 11am tomorrow.

The Rockhampton Jockey Club has another strong seven race TAB card scheduled for Callaghan Park racecourse tomorrow with the first race programmed for 1.10pm.
