Dead man discovered on road near Biloela named by police

UPDATE 8PM: A MAN whose body was found early Friday morning near Biloela has been named as 18-year-old Kurtis West.

Detective Acting Inspector for the Capricornia district Scott Moon said the boy's parents were distraught with the news of his death.

"Certainly as any parent would know a child that is deceased is very, very upsetting," Acting Inspector Moon said.

At 3.20am police were advised by a motorist that they had found a male person deceased on the Jambin-Dakenbah Rd at Jambin.

"As a result of that and attendance of our officers a crime scene has been established at that particular location," Acting Inspector Moon said.

"We understand from our investigations he wasn't there for a very long period of time from being located.

"At this stage it is very early in our investigation, we have detectives working very hard to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and how the deceased made it to that location.

"We are appealing for anyone who may have seen a male person who is of a slim build walking along that road or even in a vehicle on that road or may have seen him at the Jambin shop area between 3-4am.

"As anyone would expect the family are traumatized by this event but we appeal to anyone at all who may have information attaining to this incident to contact Crime Stoppers (1800 333 000) or their local police station."

UPDATE 6.30PM: Police are treating the death of a man in Argoon early this morning as suspicious.

The man is believed to be 18-year-old Wandal man Kurtis West.

11.15AM: Police are investigating the death of a man near Biloela this morning.

Police were notified the body of a man had been found on a dirt road just outside Biloela at 3.40am.

A 'road closed' sign has been put up on the Jambin- Dakenbah Rd near its intersection with Argoon-Kilburnie Rd, which is north of Biloela between Biloela and Jambin.

Police also have closed access to a driveway on Argoon-Kilburnie Rd about 200 metres from this intersection.

Investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the man's death.

There is no further information available at this time.
