New business boot camp heads to Rockhampton

AS MANY businesses across Central Queensland struggle to keep their doors open, a new business boot camp is aiming to improve confidence.

The boot camp is part of Capricorn Enterprise's Economic Gardening High Growth Business Program, which will run for three to four months.

Joanna Kubota, from Global Solutions Strategies, said the program included workshops and some one-on-one coaching with selected businesses.

She said the aim was to work on challenges facing businesses as well as giving advice on areas like marketing, business strategy and social media.

The program was originally based on an American model and has been run successfully in New South Wales' Illawarra region.

"The program we've had down here has been really successful," Ms Kubota said.

Ms Kubota said the program focused on small to medium enterprises, but had also worked in partnership with owner-operators in the past.

She said the program was open to businesses across all industries.

"There's no specific size they have to be to be in the program or to get benefit from it," Ms Kubota said.

"(They just have to be) hungry to grow and learn new things."

The program workshops will be held in the evenings every few weeks following an initial day-long boot camp on September 8.

Ms Kubota said the aim was for businesses to implement new ideas between each workshop and return with any feedback or questions.

She said the most important qualities needed for the program were a hunger for growth, desire to learn and commitment to implementing changes.

Registrations close Monday, June 29.
