Bail for woman accused of stabbing husband with steak knife

A WOMAN accused of stabbing her husband with a steak knife during a fight has been granted bail.

Ipswich Magistrates Court was told Kris Bunda, 44, called the police and ambulance and waited with her husband until they arrived.

After emergency services attended the Booval home, Bunda was arrested and taken into custody. She appeared in court yesterday afternoon charged with unlawful wounding.

The court heard the couple had been involved in an argument and Bunda had grabbed a sign out of her husband's car and thrown it onto the ground. He responded by punching her in the head, the court was told. She had a steak knife with her from her lunch, which she allegedly grabbed and swung at her partner. The court heard she inflicted a two-centimetre cut.

Defence lawyer Vince Knox said as soon as his client realised what she had done, she screamed out, called the police and ambulance, and waited with him until they arrived.

Mr Knox said it had not been a one-sided attack, and the husband and wife had been "willing participants" in the fight.

She was granted bail, but ordered that she have no contact with her husband and not attend the family home.

The matter has been adjourned until tomorrow, when the conditions of bail are set to be reviewed following further police investigations.
