Boss's car taken 1000km

USING his boss's work car to drive more than 1000km landed Boaz Michael Costelloe in Rockhampton Magistrates Court last week.

The 20-year-old had been working at a lawn care business in Cairns last September, when he asked his employer if he could use the work car to go home.

The court heard that he was given permission to use it, but that he was only allowed to drive it home and it had to stay parked there.

Instead of returning the car, Costelloe decided to drive to Rockhampton to visit his son.

He was charged with unlawful use of a vehicle.

He was fined $600 and a conviction recorded.

Also in court last week was a man who had to be restrained by security at Zodiac nightclub after a ruckus.

Dale Edward Gallaway pleaded guilty in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Thursday to creating a disturbance.

The court heard on February 1 Gallaway had been menacing other patrons in the club and was told to stop; he was eventually taken outside by security.

Gallaway then returned to the club and took a swing at security, but missed.

He was restrained outside until police arrived.

The court heard he was angry after an altercation with his friend; he was fined $900 and a conviction recorded.
