Boxer Mitch ready to raise hell
EIGHT kickboxers from the Hellrazor Fight Club will step into the ring tonight at the Stadium Niteclub and none will be more determined to gain victory than Mitch Schukking.
Although not the biggest fighter in the group, Schukking has a big heart and plenty of determination.
While Schukking is still gaining ring experience, he has stepped up a level to assist the club's head coach Ruben Fraser to prepare the other fighters.
Tonight he will increase his level of experience as he goes into his first Full Thai (use of elbows permitted) bout.
He will meet a Cairns fighter Ricky Melor who is no stranger to competing at Rockhampton.
“He has fought on all my shows,” Fraser said.
This is the fourth show Fraser has staged at Rockhampton and the ominously named Malicious Melee promises to be the best with 16 quality bouts on the program.
Schukking has been rewarded for his efforts with the main bout of the night.
“For both fighters it will be their first Full Thai fight,” Fraser said.
Both fighters weigh in around the 66kg mark, about 4kg more than Schukking's normal fight weight, placing the contest in the welter-weight division.
Fraser has no doubt Schukking has the skill and ability to win the contest, so long as he boxes clever.
“His power is phenomenal for a bloke of his size,” Fraser said.
“My only concern is he fights with a bit of strategy and not burn out.
“He has got to select when to be aggressive and not waste energy.”
When you call someone “granite chin” it is not normally to compliment them.
Adam Hagedorn is the exception however as he has proved in his fights that he can take a blow if necessary.
This is the third fight for Hagedorn after a couple of tough contests.
“This one won't be any easier as he faces Cairns fighter Ali McDonald whose brother Francis has a proven track record.
“I just hope 'Granite Chin' doesn't have to prove why he's named that,” Fraser joked.
It's the first time in the ring for novice Simeon Brieffies and he will face a tough night when he meets Brice Kirk.
The Cooktown fighter has three bouts behind him and that experience could be critical.
The other fighters from the Hellrazor Fight Club on the program tonight are Jaras Vea Vea, Kerred Lawton, Wesley Mainhardt, Zach Drochmann and returning from injury James “Shirvo” Shirvington. The other Rockhampton fighters on the card are Alister Cole and Dan Beasley from the Chaos Fight Club and Ben Hawkes who is trained by Kelly Witchard.
