Breakers show Blaze who's boss

THE New Zealand Breakers underlined their dominance of the iiNet NBL Championship with a 109-93 home win over the Gold Coast Blaze.

Having already wrapped up the minor premiership, the titleholders had little to gain from their final regular-season home game, played in front of another sell-out crowd at the North Shore Events Centre.

But intent on carrying their winning ways into the business end of the season, the Breakers turned on three quarters of near-champagne basketball, taking control early and never taking their foot off the accelerator.

"People always ask how we keep motivation up," Breakers coach Andrej Lemanis said.

"But it's easy with this group - the enjoyment in competing keeps them going, and certainly the fact this game sold out 10 days ago and we had a full house ... there's a pride in that and rewarding the crowd."
