Surprise! You're getting married...

EIGHTY friends and family have helped celebrate a wedding that was a little out of the ordinary.

Leroy Simms and Megan Puckeridge, engaged for four years, were finally named man and wife after a surprise ceremony of sorts on Tuesday.

Close friends of the couple, Georgie Lazer and Amy Thin, were handed free rein to organise the duo's wedding, with the venue, and number and identity of guests a secret, until the couple arrived at the Apollonian Hotel, at Boreen Point.

With three DJs, giant balloons and even a trampoline, the wedding was a little different to most, Mrs Lazer said.

"It was so good, all the surprises were a hit and they (Leroy and Megan) were just blown away," Mrs Lazer said.

"There's about 80 people here and we'll be kicking on until about 6.30pm, with lots of dancing under the full moon."

She said putting together the event had been a pleasure, and was honoured to have been able to help her great friends celebrate their big day in a unique fashion.

"They are immensely grateful. They're such good friends of mine, so it's been great," Mrs Lazer said.

After organising her own wedding two-and-a-half years ago, Mrs Lazer said it had been much less stressful this time around, but just as importantly, less stressful for the bride.

Mrs Lazer said she had fielded several requests to organise other weddings as a result of the big day on Tuesday.
