British backpacker found after days lost in outback

BREAKING 3PM: A British backpacker who went missing from a Longreach property on Tuesday has been found safe and well by police.

Sam Woodhead, 18, left Upshot Station on Bogewong Alroy Rd around 5.30pm on Tuesday, but failed to return.

Police said he was hydrated and suffering from sun burn when they found him on the property.

He is being transported back to the homestead where he will undergo a medical assessment before being transported to Longreach Hospital for assessment. 

His family has been advised.
