Fire near Yaamba under control

UPDATE 8.10PM: A GRASS fire burning at the Bruce Highway near Yaamba is under control.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services confirmed it is now in the hands of property owners.

BREAKING 2.40pm: NORTH and south bound lanes on the Bruce Highway near Yaamba have been closed for an hour and a half following a grass fire.

Police are currently guiding traffic through the area due to heavy smoke from the fire.

A spokesman from the Rockhampton Police have confirmed the Queensland Fire Service are on scene and the blaze is under control.

Roads are expected to be opened soon.
