Budget puts Capricornia in strong position: Livermore

IT'S the last budget for Member for Capricornia Kirsten Livermore who will step aside after this year's election.

Ms Livermore said this year's budget was a big win for Capricornia and focused on keeping the economy strong and making smart investments for the future.

She said the Government had committed to significant investments for the people of Capricornia, including education, major road infrastructure, and funding and delivering DisabilityCare Australia.

Ms Livermore said the budget provided up to $236million for the Yeppen South floodplain upgrade and up to $132million for the Rockhampton Northern access, stage one.

"We said we'd address traffic and flood mitigation concerns for Rockhampton and this budget delivers another step towards that goal," she said. "The community wants these projects done. We now have the blueprint.

"Unlike almost any other country, in Australia we have an enviable combination of solid growth, low unemployment and low interest rates, because this Government has got the big economic calls right," she said.
