Builder vows to finish off work

HILDA Salter says her builder has vowed to finish her house renovations this weekend.

The Mount Morgan woman said she was relieved to get a phone call from the tradesman about 9am yesterday, the same day her story appeared on the front page of The Morning Bulletin.

"He just said to me, 'I'll be up this weekend to finish your job'.

"I said, 'Are you sure now?' and he said, 'Yes'."

Hilda, 79, said the builder offered no explanation as to why he had not finished the project.

She claims she gave him $13,000 cash in February to replace the roof on her home and her carport walls.

While the roof is finished, the guttering had not been started and the carport had barely been touched.

Hilda said she did not sign a contract and had no receipt, despite asking for one.

The Morning Bulletin tried to contact the builder on the number provided to Hilda but there was no answer.
