Bulder’s best effort for Keppel in QLD youth yachting champs

YOUNG sailors from across Queensland are recovering after a tough three days on the water at the Queensland Youth Yachting Championships.

Competitors from around the state wound up their Queensland Championships campaigns on Sunday afternoon at the Keppel Bay Sailing Club in Yeppoon.

In the Sabot division, Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron member Will Bridge recorded a series score of nine to clinch the state title ahead of Carlton Smith and Adam Lavis.

Keppel Bay Sailing Club's best performer in the Sabot event was Deklan Bulder, who placed eighth with a series score of 59.

Tinaroo's Talia Bulstrode took out the Open Bic event.

In the Laser 4.7 contest, Emma Barsi from Townsville was the clear winner, ahead of Natalie Bridge and George Morton.

Local competitor Dane Bulder also provided a strong performance in the division to finish in the top 10.

Carrissa Bridge from RQYS clinched the Laser Radial title, while fellow club member Emma Baillie took out the Bic Techno 293 event.

In the mixed youth division, Townsville Sailing Club's Chris Barsi with crew Corin Feist dominated to notch up a series score of seven and first place ahead of Tom Cunich in second, Eva Lorenz in third and local hope Kelly Tansey in fourth.
