Mackay man will fight burglary allegations

UPDATE, September 12: A MACKAY man accused of break and enter and possessing housebreaking gear will fight the charges, after police dropped two other allegations.

Matthew Ronald Brown, 37, fronted Magistrate Scott Luxton in Mackay Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

He faced charges of break and enter, possessing housebreaking instruments at night, and possessing suspected stolen keys and unlawful possession of viagra.

Police offered no evidence on the last two charges and Brown pleaded not guilty to the remaining charges.

The case was adjourned to November and bail was continued.

INITIAL: A MACKAY man accused of break and enter was allegedly busted with viagra, alongside housebreaking equipment such as a balaclava, gloves and a torch.

Matthew Ronald Brown, 37, fronted Mackay Magistrates Court on Tuesday on six charges.

But charges of fraud and driving without a licence were dismissed after the prosecution, represented by Shelby Larcombe, offered no evidence.

That left Brown facing charges of break and enter, possessing housebreaking instruments at night, possessing suspected stolen property (keys) and unlawful possession of the restricted drug sildenafil (also known as viagra).

The break and enter charge was dated between June 8 and 13, while the remaining charges were dated to July 15.

Pleas were not entered to those charges.

Brown was represented in court by defence solicitor Rosie Varley, of Morton Lawyers, who asked for a two week adjournment.

Magistrate Scott Luxton granted an adjournment until September and Brown's bail was extended.
