Burns planned for Mt Morgan, Mt Archer and Byfield

QUEENSLAND Fire and Emergency Services will work with Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service to conduct planned burns in the Central Queenland region over the coming days, as part of Taskforce Marcia.

The taskforce was launched in April to identify high bushfire risk areas in the wake of Tropical Cyclone Marcia.

Planned burns will be ignited at 10am today at Mt Morgan near Queen St, Dublin Lane, Limerick Lane, Cork Lane, Lowry Lane and Hall St South and at Byfield along the Death Valley track and Byfield Rd, within Byfield National Park.

Tomorrow, planned burns will be ignited at 12pm near New Zealand Gully and Lemon Scented Gum roads, within Mount Archer National Park.

During the back-burning, motorists are advised to be conscious of the amount of smoke in the air. 

Smoke inhalation is harmful, particularly to those with existing respiratory conditions.
