Police review alleged Sunbus driver attack footage
UPDATE 4PM: Police have viewed CCTV of an incident involving a Sunbus driver and are no longer calling for information from the public.
An officer this afternoon said they were investigating the veracity of the bus driver's complaint.
UPDATE 11AM: Sunbus general manager Lisa Parker says CCTV footage of an attack on a driver at Minyama will be provided to police for their investigation.
Ms Parker said the driver on the 600 service was assaulted and cash stolen from his till about 6.30pm yesterday.
She said the driver was assessed by paramedics and was able to return home without further treatment.
"Sunbus takes the safety of its drivers and passengers very seriously," Ms Parker said.
"Anti-social behaviour of this nature is unacceptable, and Sunbus continues to support measures to address and reduce these incidents."
EARLIER: A Sunbus driver has been bashed and robbed of change by a passenger at Minyama overnight.
Police said a man aged in his 20s got on the bus bound for Maroochydore about 6.30pm but did not have the correct fare to ride.
An argument ensued and the man punched the bus driver in the arm and the back of the head.
Police said the man then took a handful of change and fled.
Officers believe there were up to 15 other passengers on the bus when the attack occurred.
The bus was parked on Nicklin Way about 200m north of Jessica Boulevard when police arrived.
Paramedics treated the bus driver for minor injuries including bruises and abrasions to his head and a twisted knee.
The robber was described as being Caucasian, of slim build with short hair and about 183cm tall.
Police are calling on witnesses to the attack to come forward.
