A RESTAURANT has closed after just six months of trading, writing a farewell note intimating that Toowoomba is not accepting of new eateries.

Bonito Fish n Grill, a steak and seafood restaurant, opened its doors on Friday, July 8 at the former Woggies site at 200 Hume St.

Its menu consisted of steak and an array of seafood such as lobsters, Moreton Bay bugs, king prawns, scallops and barramundi.

Owners Alan and Joanne Willson said at the time they were excited to start the new venture.

But on November 20 the restaurant took to Facebook to announce its closure.

The owners appeared to be looking for a town more accepting of new restaurants.

"Bonito Fish N grill has closed its restaurant in Toowoomba, we thank the customers for giving us a go.

'However Toowoomba is not a town for restaurants to open.

"As such we are now looking at a new town to carry on with our restaurant."

Customers responded with sadness to the news.

Teresa Werth Nee-Hellyer wrote: "Sorry to hear that. We've been there several times and loved both the meal and service. I wish you both well in the next town you set up in."

Matthew Smith said he was planning on going there, but hadn't found the time to go.

Others wished them well: "All the best for your future Jo and Alan thank you for everything," Kaylah Follese wrote.

It wasn't long before people started suggesting their towns at the new location for the restaurant.

Em Kathleen wrote: "Come to Dalby."

Calls to Bonito Fish n Grill went unanswered today.
