Businesses create connections at forum

THE Strategic Consulting Group successfully hosted a free business and networking forum at the Empire Apartment Hotel on Monday, October 19.

This was the second such event the Strategic Consulting Group has hosted and once again it was a successful evening.

A diverse range of local business people attended, enjoying the opportunity to create connections and also to hear from two expert speakers.

The two guest speakers were Tage Andersson, lecturer in management at CQUniversity Rockhampton, and Chris Harris, principal of C.T. Harris and Company - Chartered Accountants.

Tage spoke about the need for a robust business plan, and specifically discussed how the business planning process could be enhanced by using innovative technologies and strategies.

Tage suggested that a vast majority of businesses were potentially under-performing due to a lack of a formal business plan.

Chris then spoke about the steps needed to ensure that your business decisions were rational and realistic.

He suggested that by working co-operatively with your accountant you could implement these steps and maximise your chances of success.

Chris stressed the need for businesses to engage with professional services; it was through these services that businesses could become effective and efficient in their offerings.

Both speakers were available after their talks so that attendees could ask them questions. As a result, some very interesting and informative discussion was generated on the night.

The Strategic Consulting Group looks forward to hosting another event in the future.
