A NUMBER of local business owners and organisation representatives attended the Chamber of Commerce Small Business Summit this morning to discuss the issues affecting small businesses in the region.

About 55 business owners attended along with Rockhampton mayor Margaret Strelow.

President Peter Fraser said the summit was successful in gathering important information from business owners.

"Getting everyone together this morning was just one of the strategies for us to engage with business and get them to discuss some of the real issues they're facing at the moment," he said.

"Now that we have all of that information we'll collate it and focus on ways we can move forward.  We've got the beef industry, we've got tourism and we've got mining, we've got multi-pronged capabilities here and we need to use them to our advantage."
