Busy principals feeling work and resource strain

SCHOOL principals are getting stressed due to high workloads and a lack of resources to support them, a survey claims.

The survey of principals' health and wellbeing, commissioned by the Teachers Health Fund, showed "sheer quantity of work and lack of time" were the biggest contributors to principal stress.

It also showed less than 10% of principals surveyed thought they were getting enough support to do their jobs.

Australian Education Union federal president Correna Haythorpe said it showed a need for more funding for schools.

She said the principals were forced to increase their workloads due to a lack of resources.
