Cabbie allegedly stabbed in neck with bottle

UPDATE 12.30PM:  A MAN charged after a taxi driver was allegedly stabbed in the neck with a broken bottle last night has been remanded in custody until next year.

Joshua Aaron Morcus, 24, is charged with six offences including one count each of acts intended to maim, disfigure or disable and acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and four counts of serious assault police.

He did not make an application for bail and is due in court in January.

EARLIER: A MAN will face court today charged with stabbing a taxi driver in the neck with a broken bottle.

Police will also allege that after being arrested over the stabbing, the man later threw urine on officers at the Ipswich watchouse.

Police were called to an incident on the Brisbane Valley Highway, near the corner of Schmidt Rd, at Fernvale about 9pm Tuesday.

A man in his 50s sustained a cut to his neck and was treated by paramedics before being taken to Ipswich Hospital in a stable condition.

The accused is due to face Ipswich Magistrates Court this morning.
