Call for volunteers to help people with 2013 tax returns

ROCKHAMPTON Regional Council's Community Development Centre (CDC) Yeppoon and Rockhampton Regional Library are calling for volunteers to help community members with their 2013 tax returns.

As a Tax Help volunteer, you don't need any special experience! You would provide a free and confidential service to help people complete their tax returns during tax time.

Volunteers are fully trained, accredited and supported by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and will operate from July 1 until October 31 out of the CDC and the Rockhampton Regional Library.

Tax Help volunteers assist people with fairly straightforward tax returns by helping them prepare their tax returns using e-tax and, where possible, electronically lodging it.

Tax Help training is undertaken between April and June. Once you are trained, you have access to the Tax Help hotline where ATO staff can assist you with the technical help you may need on behalf of your client.

For more information and to register your interest email your name, phone number, state and suburb of residence to MEI_TaxHelp@ato.gov.au by March 29. Yeppoon residents please contact the CDC on 4913 3840 or the ATO.

The CDC provides Capricorn Coast residents with a community hub that offers information and referral assistance, outreach services, networking and social events, participation in programs and life long learning opportunities.
