VOLUNTEERS, kick off your work boots on Saturday: your day has arrived.

Organisers are well on the way to host Buy 'em a Beer events in Yeppoon and Emu Park today.

The events will acknowledge the not-for-profit organisations volunteers who worked tirelessly in the aftermath of Cyclone Marcia.

The Yeppoon event will get underway at the Yeppoon Showgrounds from 2pm.

The Emu Park event will also start at 2pm at Emu Park's Bell Park.

Organiser of the Yeppoon event Roxanne Hinton was the woman behind the grand idea.

After feeling helpless following Cyclone Marcia's fury a month ago, Roxanne and her dad Darrell Davis decided beer was the best way to help out.

Darrell and his daughter felt they needed to do something for the volunteers who helped clean up the region following the cyclone.

So they decided to buy them beer.

But things took a tight and explosive turn when the "buy them a beer idea" turned into a full-blown fundraiser, which will include live entertainment, kids' rides and food stalls.

The beer, of course, will still be flowing.

Roxanne and Darrell have named the event the Buy 'em a Beer QFRS and SES Thank You fundraiser.

"We want to raise some money for much-needed equipment and get the people of the Capricorn Coast together to lift our spirits so we can come back from this better than ever."
