Sophisticated gentlemen in old photo

OUR Blast from the Past series has got away to a great start, with many people phoning in or coming into The Morning Bulletin with their recollection of photos we have printed so far.

This photo we know little about, and hope you, our readers can shed some light on when or where it would have been taken.

Rockhampton history buff Robert Macfarlane, who has an extensive knowledge of the early history of the region, said he had an original copy of the photo in Saturday's edition of Denham St, and observers could gain an indication of when it was taken by looking at the image.

"It would have to be after 1895 and before 1904 because the building at the end of the street was what was once known as The Bank of New Zealand and is now Westpac," Mr Macfarlane said.
