Can't book flight on Tiger Airways

TRAVEL plans have been put on hold for some Rockhampton residents after they found it impossible to book a Tiger Airways flight to Melbourne from early 2010.

Travellers can book their Melbourne flights up until March 27; the day before the new Brisbane direct route is due to launch.

The freeze has left us wondering if the Melbourne service has been sacrificed.

When contacted by The Morning Bulletin, Tiger Airways Australia Commercial Director Steve Burns said more information would be available soon.

“We haven’t released our 2010 new season schedule for a number of routes yet, for the period extending March 28 to October 30, 2010,” he said.

“Hopefully it will be available soon.”

The airline expects the introduction of the Brisbane service to have a dramatic effect on ticket prices offered by airlines already operating from the airport.

The discount airline celebrated its second year of operation in Australia last week by launching 100,000 low fare seats starting at $2.
