Capella residents return to find home gutted by fire

UPDATE: The residents of a Capella home severely damaged in an overnight blaze had left just hours before the fire took hold.

Investigations have identified the fire broke out in the kitchen and lounge area of the Huntley St home on Wednesday.

The residents had left the address about 5.30pm, with investigators determining the fire started between 8.30pm and 9pm.

Emergency services were called just after 9pm when the fire was reported.

A police spokeswoman said the blaze quickly spread through the house, with investigations as yet unable to determine how it started.

The cause has been listed as undetermined as investigations continue.

No-one was injured, the police spokeswoman said.

 

INITIAL: FIRE has destroyed a house in the Central Highlands town of Capella tonight. 

Multiple fire crews have battled to bring the blaze under control after it broke out just after 9pm.

The Huntley St home, believed to be unoccupied, was engulfed with crews unable to save the structure.

Multiple Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews remain on scene dampening down hot spots after reporting the blaze was under control about 9.45pm.

Queensland Ambulance paramedics are on standby but have not been required to treat any patients.

Queensland police are also on scene.

Firefighters are yet to gain entry to search the home but initial inquiries indicate all persons have been accounted for.

The property is likely to be guarded overnight before fire investigations get under way on Thursday.
