CQ Capras’ giants could hit it big with Brisbane Broncos

HIRED to bolster the Rockhampton Leagues Club Capras pack, Sebastien Martins and Arlin Paki are expected to boost Brisbane Broncos coach Anthony Griffin's arsenal sooner than expected.

The pair of giants spent last week training with the Broncos and are slated to feature in the six-time NRL premiers' first trial match for the 2014 season.

The Broncos play the North Queensland Cowboys at Dolphin Oval, Redcliffe on February 8 and both players are expected to feature.

Rockhampton-raised Griffin visited his home town before the Christmas break to see how the pair performed on the training paddock.

Impressed by the pair, who each tip the scales at more than 125kg, he invited Frenchman Martins and Paki, who played for the Capras in 2013, to join his Broncos squad for a week.

While Paki returned to Rockhampton earlier this week and resumed training with the Capras on Tuesday night, Martins remained in Brisbane and will train with the Broncos until the Cowboys trial in an effort to push for a permanent position in Griffin's squad.

"He's been impressed, I believe," Capras coach Jason Hetherington said.

"They were very impressed with both of them. They're keeping Seb down there, I guess it's just that little bit of experience he's got."

Hetherington said Paki was likely to feature in the Capras' first trial against Mackay Cutters on February 1 before joining the Broncos for the trial.
