TARRANT Mariner's appearance at the Capras' final training session before Sunday's Intrust Super Cup clash with Burleigh will have a couple of officials excited and others a little nervous.

Mariner is set to make a late return from an ankle injury against the Bears at Pizzey Park, provided he pulls up well following Thursday's hit out.

Rockhampton Leagues Club Central Queensland Capras' operations manager Brendan Bowers is pleased to have Mariner back in the starting frame after being ruled unfit to take the field in the last two rounds.

"Tarrant has been progressing well, he may have been able to play last week but we just wanted to give him the extra week to make sure he has the opportunity to heal properly," Bowers said.

"He will have to get through training this week but he is looking very promising."

Mariner, who averaged 130m for the Capras in the opening rounds, will come in at right-centre to replace an unavailable Shaun Collins.

Yeppoon Seagulls' enforcer Jonathan Still, who was a regular in the Capras junior representative ranks, has impressed at training, earning a call-up into this weekend's extended squad.

"Jonathan trained with us in the pre-season and in attempts to extend our playing ranks we are looking to blood more young talent," Bowers said.

"His call-up comes as an opportunity to strengthen our relationship with the Yeppoon Seagulls."

Bowers expected "lightning to strike twice" and for the Capras to repeat their 22-14 opening round win over the Bears.

Apart from possessing some of the game's most intimidating forwards, Burleigh have in their attack arsenal the unique skills of former Roosters-contracted Riley Jacks.

Javarn White will return at fullback while Gerard Tema (foot) and Josh Johnston (back) remain in doubt due to injury.
